Pawasut Piriyapongrat earned her Bachelor degree in Music Education with honors from Chulalongkorn University; Master of Music in Church Music and Doctor of Musical Arts in Choral Music from the University of Southern California, where she studied choral conducting with Dr. William Dehning.
Piriyapongrat is very active and well-known in the Thai choral scene as a leading choral conductor, clinician, educator, and an adjudicator in Thailand and internationally. She is the first conductor of Thai Youth Choir—the national youth choir of Thailand, and conductor of Chulalongkorn University Concert and Chamber Choirs performing in own concerts regularly inside and outside Thailand, and collaborating with professional orchestras. She has also conducted Thailand premiered of numerous larger choral works with orchestras.
She dedicates much time and energy in bettering choral standards in Thailand through her initiatives that include various workshops, annual festivals and camps for university choirs in Thailand. She also works closely with American Choral Directors Association, International Federation for Choral Music, and Thailand Ministry of Education on choral education programs in Thailand.
She is currently a full-time professor of Music Education Division, Faculty of Education,
Chulalongkorn University, Thailand.
